Alumni and placement

A programme that opens real professional paths through an interdisciplinary method, field workshops and a growing global network.

Where Master PolisMaker can take you

Master PolisMaker is an interdisciplinary programme focused on career outcomes in urban regeneration, sustainable real estate and urban policies. Our alumni work in public administrations, professional firms, consulting companies, businesses and international organisations, bringing Value Management and PolisMaking tools into decision-making processes.

Placement is not an afterthought but the natural result of a pathway built on real cases, project work, internships and workshops with partners in Italy and abroad.

Career outcomes

Career outcomes: employment sectors and typical roles

Career outcomes span different fields: alumni apply the PolisMaker method across public and private sectors, nationally and internationally, combining strategic vision, technical skills and the ability to facilitate complex decisions.

An interdisciplinary profile with multiple career pathways

Thanks to interdisciplinary training, a PolisMaker can pursue career opportunities in public administrations, real estate, engineering companies, architecture firms, non-profit organisations, and Urban Transformation Companies (STU) engaged in the transformation of urban settlements.

A PolisMaker is especially characterised by the ability to evaluate alternative options through a holistic lens, with a strong focus on quality of living as well as on the economic and financial sustainability of urban transformation initiatives.

For recent graduates in particular, the programme offers a concrete opportunity to gain professional experience quickly—developing critical thinking, a strategic mindset and the ability to read urban phenomena—skills that would otherwise require several years of professional practice.

Alumni insights

Experiences that build competences (and relationships)

Testimonials often highlight moments where learning moves from listening to practice: workshops, conferences, simulations, brainstorming and teamwork. Alongside teaching, alumni also recall the community dimension: exchange across profiles, international comparison and places experienced as part of the Master’s classroom.

Moments of teamwork and collaboration… from the Finalborgo conference… to participation-table simulations and brainstorming.

Meeting people from other parts of the world…

Walking through the city of Como… together with faculty.

The ideal Master, according to participants

Open responses show that the strongest experience is the one combining in-person learning, interdisciplinarity and real cases. This is the same framework guiding the PolisMaker Master’s programs: culture and method, applied to concrete contexts.

1) in-person 2) interdisciplinary 3) applied to real cases.

Placement angle

Competences that become employable

Many alumni describe a shift: from single-domain expertise to the ability to handle interdisciplinarity without losing direction. It is a key competence in urban regeneration, real estate and policy processes: define objectives, read impacts, build alternatives and support decisions.

I believe I now have more tools to address this.

In my way of reasoning toward objectives: previously strictly engineering-based, now more open.

Today culture must be a system of connections to address an increasingly complex social and global reality.

It is possible to build a network of connections… PolisMaker provides exactly this preparation and may become an increasingly sought-after profile.

Today the world needs PolisMakers because the overall vision of cities has been fragmented…

Alumni voice

Urban complexity requires transdisciplinarity

Open-ended alumni responses clearly indicate that interdisciplinarity is not an “extra”, but a necessary condition to address the city-system.

Interdisciplinarity… acknowledges the complexity of the city-system… the only way to successfully address urban problems.

Above all: transdisciplinarity…
