Presentation of the 16th edition of the PolisMaker Master and of the volume edited by Prof. Santiago Caprio

On Friday, April 17, 2026, Politecnico di Milano will host the presentation of the 16th edition of the PolisMaker Master and of the volume Polis Maker for quality of living and sustainable urban development.

On Friday, April 17, 2026, starting at 9:30 am, an important event dedicated to the cultural, scientific and educational path of PolisMaker will take place at Campus Leonardo of Politecnico di Milano, Consorzio CISE, Piazza Leonardo da Vinci 32, Building 3: the presentation of the 16th edition of the PolisMaker Master and of the volume edited by Prof. Santiago Caprio, Polis Maker per la qualità del vivere e lo sviluppo urbano sostenibile. Azioni per cambiare la città. The event will take place in person at Campus Leonardo and will also be available via live streaming.

The meeting will be an opportunity to share the interdisciplinary vision that has always characterised the PolisMaker Master, focused on quality of living, sustainable urban transformation and the integrated reading of territories, bringing technical, economic, legal, humanistic and design approaches into dialogue. The volume published in Maggioli's Politecnica series is fully part of this path, offering a reflection on the actions, methods and experiences that can help change the city from a holistic and sustainable perspective.

The event will open with remarks by Prof. Giovanni Lonati, Director of the PolisMaker Master; Prof. Santiago Caprio, author of the book, Director of PolisMaker.Lab, Deputy Director of the PolisMaker Master, member of the UN-Habitat Global Smart Cities Expert Group and tenured professor at the University of Buenos Aires; Prof. Angelo Caruso di Spaccaforno, promoter and founder of the PolisMaker Master; and Eng. Andrea Galli, Scientific Director of the PolisMaker Master and Vice-President of the Italian Association for Value Management and Analysis (AIAV).

The programme will continue with an in-depth look at PolisMaker publications in Maggioli Editore's Politecnica series, with a contribution by Dr. Alberto Kratter Thaler, Apogeo Education Editor at the Maggioli Group. This will be followed by a reflection on the Master's Built Environment Area, presented by Prof. Benedetto Antonini as a key to understanding the meaning of quality of living.

One of the central moments of the initiative will be dedicated to the PolisMaker Master workshops across the different teaching areas, with contributions that will highlight the richness of the educational path and its multidisciplinary character. Speakers will include Prof. Giampiero Bambagioni for Economics and Strategy, lawyer Elisabetta Cicigoi for Law, Prof. Sara Schieppati for Human Sciences, Prof. Paolo Martini for Anthropology and Prof. Alessandra De Seneen for Communication.

The event will also host a focus on editorial curation according to a holistic vision, with contributions by Arch. Marco Asciutti, editorial curator of the book and Teaching Coordinator of the PolisMaker Master, and Dr. Sara Clarissa Bonati, editorial collaborator on the volume for CISE-Polimi. Closing reflections will be entrusted to the participants around the theme "The holistic process as a challenge in contemporary times".

The day is intended as an open moment of discussion on the current meaning of the PolisMaker project: training professionals capable of interpreting the complexity of the city and territory, reading ongoing transformations and contributing, through cultural and operational tools, to a more aware, sustainable and quality-of-living-oriented urban development. The structure of the Master, in both its first- and second-level paths, is also based on a strong integration among disciplines and on the intention to provide methodological and operational tools for governing urban transformation processes.
